Meals on Wheels – Douglas County is ideal for those who cannot get to a congregate meal site. Meals on Wheels – Douglas County, operated by Senior Connections, provides a nutritious meal in microwave-safe, reusable trays or bowls.
Meals are available Monday through Friday to persons 60 or older that are homebound. Frozen meals and/or shelf-stable meals (limited supply) may be available for weekends, holidays, and weather-related emergencies.
The program also provides an invaluable well-being check to those who may be experiencing isolation. Persons can be referred to Meals on Wheels – Douglas County by a social worker, doctor, family member, or through self-referral.
Anyone who receives this service is asked to contribute to the cost of the meal. There is a donation request of $4.00 per meal. Contributions are confidential and no one (aged 60+) will be denied because of their inability to pay.
Staff from Senior Connections conducts an annual assessment to determine an individual’s need for home delivered service.
