News & Updates

WELCOME MICHAEL MENCEL our new Family Caregiver & Health Promotions Coordinator, taking over for Ciara Johnson. Michael is a Superior native and lives near Lake Nebagamon in what he calls his "Fortress of Solitude" (A frame house on 30 acres). His two grown children, Marshal and Isabel, live and work in Austin and San Antonio, Texas. His 'fully self-sufficient' 87-year-old parents, Lawrence and Marjo Mencel, live on their own in Superior and love to remind him of that on a daily basis.

Michael has an extensive background in advertising and marketing, and has worked for Maurices, Big Top Chautauqua, Kohl's, Family Dollar and Visionworks. While completing his BS in Education at UW-Superior, Michael worked at an adult group home in Superior. For the past three years, Michael has been a full-time substitute K-12 teacher for the Superior and Maple School Districts. Mr. Mencel, or as the students call him, 'Mr. Pencil' (but don't call him 'Late For Dinner') looks forward to digging into his new role here at Senior Connections and is excited to start helping the senior community!
